Kardashian’s business empire has since become significantly more sophisticated, but these controversies remain part of the history that informs how some people view her decisions today.

Her Treatment of Employees Has Also Been Questioned

Kardashian has faced criticism beyond fashion and advertising.

In 2021, seven former household employees filed a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian alleging wage-and-hour violations, including claims involving overtime, breaks and expenses. Kardashian’s representatives disputed the allegations, and the lawsuit was not proof that the accusations were true.

And she certainly did not choose to have every hairstyle, outfit or social-media post analyzed by strangers.

What North is doing is, in many ways, exactly what children do: experimenting with identity, testing boundaries and figuring out who they want to become.

The difference is that she is doing it in public.

So, Is Kim Kardashian Okay?

There is no evidence that Kim Kardashian is “not okay” in the literal sense suggested by the headline. What the public reaction really reveals is something more complicated.

Fans are questioning whether Kim’s approach to parenting has kept pace with the extraordinary level of attention surrounding her children.

She has given North access to opportunities most children could never imagine. Fashion shows, music, creative projects and exposure to some of the biggest names in entertainment can provide experiences that may eventually help North build her own career.

But opportunity comes with responsibility.

A child can be confident without being overexposed. A child can be fashionable without being sexualized. A child can have a public personality without having every part of childhood turned into content.

That balance may be especially difficult for someone like Kim, whose entire career has been built around refusing to stay out of the spotlight.

For now, North appears confident, creative and determined to establish an identity of her own. Whether that identity ultimately becomes an extension of the Kardashian brand or something completely different remains to be seen.

The bigger question isn’t whether North is “out of control.”

It is whether the adults around her can make sure she has enough room to grow up before the entire world decides who she is supposed to become.
